AOPA condemns CASA press release

AOPA has issued a rebuttal to CASA’s grounding of aircraft under AD/FSM/31. See our media release “3,000 small planes grounded” After we approached Greg Vaughan, CASA’s GM-GA, we have acheived a lessening of the requirements to have a LAME conduct the initial inspection, even when the aircraft is stranded at a remote location. Under a Part 11 exemption, pilots will now be permitted to inspect the part and then fly the aircraft to a maintenance facility if required.
