  • AOPA Active in Regulatory Affairs

    Vice-President Andrew Andersen reports that the AOPA Executive has been busy during January, preparing detailed comments on several proposals by CASA for new regulations.

    A draft of the new Part 61 Civil Aviation Safety Regulations was put forward by CASA at the end of last year. These draft regulations deal with flight crew licences, including student, recreational, private, commercial and air transport licences.

  • Perth Safety Seminar 3rd March

    ALL WELCOME

    AOPA will partner with RACWA and CASA to host a free Safety Seminar and Fly In at
    Jandakot on the Saturday the of 3rd of March 2012.

    Building on our successful seminar held in Bendigo last November, we plan
    to run a similar program at RACWA Jandakot, combining an educational program
    within a social atmosphere is, we consider, the best learning
    environment in which to promote safety.

  • Airworthiness Directives for Beechcraft forward elevator cable

    The following Airworthiness Directives for the Beechcraft forward elevator cable inspection and replacement are being issued by CASA today and will be published shortly (this afternoon).

    The ADs are identical and are repeated to cover the different series that are affected.

    The ADs essentially require immediate inspection of the forward elevator cable assembly, but allow for cables that have been inspected/replaced within the last year and also allow a positioning flight for the inspection.

    Replacement of cables that have been over 15 years in service is required within 60 days.

  • Beechcraft proposed AD

    AOPA wish to alert all owners of Beechcraft aircraft, models E33, A36 and B55 to a control cable failure that occurred in an E 33 aircraft. CASA are proposing and AD that may affect their aircraft. AOPA are keeping a close watch on this development and have been in discussion with Mr. Roger Alder. Whilst we accept the need to inspect the control cable in question, we are endeavoring to arrive at an inspection program that address’s the safety concerns, but allows sufficient time for compliance.

  • Merry Christmas!

    AOPA would like to wish all its members a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    The AOPA office will have a skeleton staff working during the Christmas period from 19th December to the 6th of January. The magazine schedule for 2012 has changed slightly however members will continue to receive the same amount of magazines.
